2028 is the opposite of 2027. Of the 13 holidays, 11 fall between Monday and Friday and only New Year's Day lands on a Saturday. That creates 3 classic bridges costing a single leave day: 7 January, 24 April, 14 August, next to Epiphany, Liberation Day and Ferragosto. 25 April on a Tuesday and 1 May on a Monday are only three working days apart, and Christmas on a Monday with New Year's Day 2029 on a Monday again gives the longest week: 3 leave days, Wed 27 December – Fri 29 December, for 10 days off. Ten well-placed leave days reach 32 days off, twenty reach 54. 4 October, St Francis, also falls midweek, on a Wednesday, as does All Saints' Day. If you want a long trip in spring, ask for your leave well in advance.
The best long weekends of 2028
The table sorts the 2028 bridges by value: first those where one leave day is worth four days off, then Christmas week and the two-, three- or four-day bridges around Easter, 25 April, 2 June, St Francis and the Immaculate Conception.

Easter 2028 falls on 16 April 2028, fairly late, and Easter Monday comes a week before 25 April. The two April weeks can therefore be joined: the table shows that the week between 25 April and 1 May costs only 3 leave days for 7 days off.
What your leave buys in 2028
The comparison with the neighbouring years shows how generous 2028 is: for the same leave, you get many more consecutive days off than in 2027. The difference comes entirely from the calendar, since the holidays are the same.
| Year | 5 leave days | 10 leave days | 15 leave days |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 14 | 28 | 40 |
| 2027 | 11 | 25 | 35 |
| 2028 | 18 | 32 | 42 |
Your town's patron saint can add a bridge. In Milan, for example, Sant'Ambrogio falls on Thursday 7 December 2028, the day before the Immaculate Conception on a Friday: anyone working in Milan gets four days off without using leave. The search is on the patron saint page, the full calendar on calendar 2028.
